A free, browser-based tool for building resumes and CVs, running ATS-style checks, drafting cover letters, and tracking job applications. Works on any modern browser, including mobile.

What this is not

It is not a real applicant tracking system. It is not an AI writer. It is not affiliated with any employer, recruiter, or ATS vendor. It does not guarantee interviews or job offers.

Where your data lives

Resume content, design settings, cover-letter drafts, resume library, job tracker, and interview notes are stored in your browser's local storage. Nothing is uploaded to a server. Uploaded photos are compressed and stored locally.

How the score is calculated

The checker measures two things: term-frequency overlap between your resume and a job description, and a set of formatting and structure rules. The result is informational, not predictive.

Design principles

Small scope, done well. No fake AI features, no invented statistics, no pressure tactics. One interface that works the same on phone, tablet, and desktop.

Languages and regions

All inputs, templates, and exports handle Unicode text. Fields accept any name order, international phone formats, and date formats common across regions. A4 and US Letter are both supported.

Technical notes

  • • Static HTML, CSS, and JavaScript — no backend.
  • • Data stored in the browser's localStorage; nothing sent over the network.
  • • PDF export uses the browser's native print dialog, producing selectable-text PDFs.
  • • Photos are compressed client-side before storing to keep localStorage size reasonable.
  • • Fonts loaded from Google Fonts on first visit; the tool continues to work offline with fallback system fonts.

Summary

ResumeForge stores all data in your browser's local storage. Nothing is uploaded to a server.

What we store locally

  • Resume and CV content, design settings, cover-letter drafts.
  • Your local resume library, job tracker entries, and interview practice notes.
  • Optional profile photos, compressed client-side before storing.
  • Small UI preferences (theme, last active section, zoom level).

What we do not do

  • We do not upload your resume or photo to a server.
  • We do not use analytics, tracking pixels, or advertising cookies.
  • We do not sell, share, or transfer your data.
  • We do not require an account, email, or any personal identifier.

Photos

If you upload a profile photo, it is processed in your browser (resized and compressed) and stored locally alongside your resume data. It is never transmitted.

Third-party services

Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts on first visit. Google may receive your IP address as part of the request. The tool continues to work with fallback system fonts if you block this request.

Your controls

  • Reset, Delete, and JSON export controls are available in the builder's More menu.
  • Clearing your browser's site data removes everything.

Children's privacy

Not directed at children under 13. We do not collect data on our servers.

  • You are responsible for keeping backups. Local storage can be cleared by the browser, by you, or by your device.
  • Do not use the service for unlawful purposes or to misrepresent your qualifications.

The ATS-style checker produces informational feedback. It does not guarantee success with any employer or ATS. Template designs are provided for general use.
